At Schmidt Audio, our mission is to passionately manufacture with some of the most unique and practical speakers in the audio industry today. We are committed to providing exceptional value and insist on exceeding our clients' expectations when it comes to sound. That means we are highly focused on testing and tuning in multiple "real-world" listening and living environments. We want something to sound just as good in your living room as it does in a dedicated listening room.
Our team of experts have years of experience in audio and although we are dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies, we are more interested in trailblazing when it comes to new designs. At Schmidt Audio, we design products that are both scientifically designed and tested to our standards in the "real-world". Many companies claim outrageous specs that can't be duplicated in the average listening room or have no practical relevancy. For example, bass reproduction specifications at -6 to -10 db. If you can't hear it, what's the point. In contrast, we test & expect our designs to perform within +-3dB. The Subiquitous makes real bass (f3 of 40HZ) without any fancy positioning or environment. The bass is extremely musical and tight...We think you'll be pleased with what you hear.
ISO-feet were designed as in upgrade for the Ubiquitous V.2 floor standing speakers. They are constructed out of Aluminum, Sorbothane, and Rubber. At nearly 2" round and 1.5" tall, these "footers" offer a wide contact with floor surfaces. The dampening characteristics and durability of the materials make Iso-feet ideal for many applications. Testing showed "cleaner, tighter, & smoother bass" as unwanted resonances are removed due to a high Delta Tan. "Bass bloom is minimized & midrange is improved with greater definition and clarity".

We currently use an OEM Manufacturer's speakers (located in the USA) the that meet our design requirements.
*Some of the highlights of the woofer specs include a resonant frequency (Fs) 34 HZ, total Q factor of 0.35, 50 watts continuous power/ 100 watts program power, 25 - 6,000 HZ, & 92 dB sensitivity.
It was especially important finding a woofer that would provide deep bass in a relatively small enclosure that would mate well with lower powered amplifiers. Specs like low Q factors (0.35) are important to minimize "ringing", provide better transient response, & help the speaker stop faster. Values between 0.5-0.7 are considered low while higher values (0.7 - 1.1) tend to produce warm bass that can tend to sound "boomy".
No - In fact, the v.2 can be used effectively with low-powered tube amplifier (7-12 watts) or higher-powered solid-state amplifiers. The Ubiquitous have a modest power rating. As with all speakers, the first watt is most important to provide clean sound. 1 watt will provide approx. 92 dB of sound within 1 meter. This is equivalent to a Subway Train at 200 feet.
An Omni-Polar Speaker is designed to interact with the living space. Sound waves are reflected (& absorbed) via walls, ceilings, or other objects in the room. The sound tends to be multi-directional, or 360 degrees in nature. They can create an immersive experience where the entire space behind the speaker seems to project the sound. Lost is the feeling of sound coming directly from the speaker - presentation becomes bigger and more natural. As a result, you tend to not have a single "sweet spot"... everyone in a room can enjoy great sound; However, in some instances the trade-off can be focus and sharpness. The v.2 does a great job at maintaining this focus and clarity.
You have many liberties in placement. The idea of an equilateral triangle where the listening space is proportional to the distance between the speaker is not necessarily required. Each room is unique and different and so too is positioning. Generally speaking, starting as above can help - but you will quickly find positioning can be done to accommodate your life (& the furniture!) without destroying sound presentation as with traditional box speakers.
Next, try pulling the speakers forward from the back or side wall(s) a bit to allow for some reflection (18-24+ inches) & pay attention to overly reflective surfaces that may emphasize high frequencies or absorptive surfaces that may lower it. The attenuator on the back allows you to turn up or down the mid/high frequencies to accommodate for this. The great thing is you will notice you can walk about the room and sit in various positions while still maintaining a stereo image and good sound!
Although the Ubiquitous v.2 is our current "full production" speaker, we are presently designing a bookshelf speaker called the "Mini-Ubi v.2" (see product section for v.1 details); As well as, a modern twist on 15" Horn Loaded Classics. As no stranger to our other designs, we can reproduce the "Ubiquitous v.1", our "Vader" Open Baffle Speaker, & "The Transmission Line". The "Schmidt A7" is currently not available.
